Chicken Coop(Cause everyone in New England needs one)
by Administrator
I live in an extremely rural town(for just outside Boston and Cambridge), where wild turkeys rule the streets and organic farms are more common than Dunkin Donuts… My mother dreamed up having a chicken coop in the backyard and has had a a book on chicken coop construction for months now. Stephen and I decided it was time to act, as my mother decided where to take classes on raising chickens, and made the big trip to Home Dept two weeks ago. Yesterday, with the help of my friend LA Creech from Groton and Tufts, we finally started construction. Things actually moved pretty fast and even though we had to make a quick trip to Home Depot(the store where only the Cleaning Supplies aisle is labeled in Spanish…) to pick up what started as four things and ended up being nine or ten we managed to put the walls and roof on, to make it actually look like a house. The next day was spent shingling(not as fun…), adding cross supports, and taste testing cookies(more fun). We are attempting to finish up next weekend so we can have some tasty chickens to eat by Easter. This project is totally worth it as well because we got to buy some new tools like a staple gun, chalk liner, hardcore wire cutters for the chicken wire, and an extra circular saw. Boys love toys.
Stephen and I were also the manliest carpenters ever as we sipper our san pelligrino limonata.
It is also important to note that Stephen and I are not “morning people” and by two days of work we mean working from 3-7 or so.

Cadi was kind enough to watch over the whole affair.

More work next weekend?!
Oooh can I come??? Also I need some cleaning supplies, but it spanish, any idea where I can get those?
We might work tomorrow from like 3-6… so if you want to skip work to work you are more than welcome to. Of course you can come and teach us how to be more organized. We hammered all day today which would have been good practice for you.
Check the one aisle in spanish…
you’ll be proud to know that you made something with your own two hands.
