Planning for Kenya
by Ian Maclellan
I am starting to plan logistics for working in Kenya for 10 weeks this summer. Funding is always going to be one of the biggest concerns so my first thoughts are on how to fund this work, because believe it or not NGO’s can’t pay the best or anything really. My best plan right now is to do a fundable.com fundraiser, where people donate for a print of their choice and at the same time I could do a limited edition print sale and offer people prints upon my return. I am also interested to hear about what sort of success people like Zoriah and others who ask for donations or who offer more content for people who become members have. I plan on creating a book and a variety of multimedia articles upon my return, but besides adding to a portfolio that could make me money down the line, those wont pay for the airplane fare.
I am extremely interested to hear what readers have to say about where to look for funding and others have been able to afford to travel on similar trips for NGO’s
Here also are some of my proposed purchases before I even leave and start spending money on the trip…
actually that didn’t work in Amazon so here it is in normal:
Pentax K20D
extra batteries
Sigma 30mm 1.4
SD Extreme III 8Gb
Olympus VN-4100PC Digital Voice Recorder This is a little expensive and I might just get a cheaper one.
